Books & Games (Nov. 2021)
video gamesxbox seriesbooksAs the days continue to get colder and the amount of sunlight each day is less, I’ve started getting back in to video games and am making a direct effort to read a book or two before the end of the year. Below are a few things I’m currently spending some of my time with.
Destiny 2 #
I played the original Destiny a bit on the PS4 when it first released, but didn’t invest too much time into the original game. That made me aware of the release for the second game, and I think I may have played it right away, or within the first few months, but stepped away shortly after. It didn’t hook me right then.
Over the years I’ve come back briefly (with it being free on many of the gaming platforms) but again was not able to spend as much time as I thought I would. That was until this past month. I’ve posted before about my ups and downs in gaming over the past few years, with nothing really sticking for more than a few days. This time Destiny 2 has hooked me. I’ve finally leveled up my first character to the soft level cap, and I’m excited to keep farming and grinding the best weapons & armor the game has to offer. It also offers an immense amount of lore, Triumphs to be completed and so many more options that feeds the collector/completionist side of me. This is a game that I think will be in constant rotation, especially as each season is released.
Forza Horizon 5 #
This is a new addition. So new in fact that I booted it up for the first time last night[1] using the new cloud streaming available in beta on the Xbox Series S. It worked almost flawlessly! I was honestly surprised, as I had tried to stream with Xbox Cloud before on iPad and was unable to even boot into a game. There was only maybe 2-3 noticeable packet drops in my 45-60 minute gaming session.
Okay on to the actual gameplay. I’ll save a review of the streaming for another day 😅. So far it also fits my wants in a game. It’s a wonderfully designed racing game set in Mexico, showcasing it’s beautiful locales with a ton of stuff to do. Again feeding to the completionist in me, this game I believe will continue to provide a sense of accomplishment while also keeping things interesting and fun. I’m really excited to keep playing!
Dark Matter #
This one is short, mainly because I haven’t started reading it yet! The main takeaway is that I’m very excited for this book, and can’t wait to dive in. After seeing a glowing recommendation for this book it’s ordered and on the way. More to come on this title in the future.
That’s about it for now. A quick update on some of the games and books I’m planning on investing time into as winter make’s itself known here in Minnesota.
Until next time. ✌️
